Dr. Dr Julieanne Dougherty
About
Julieanne has a PhD in Chemistry, a Master of National Security Policy and over 20 years of experience in the public sector public sector where science intersected with law enforcement and national security. She has worked as a forensic scientist, analyst and regulator across ACT Health, the Australian Federal Police and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In these roles Julieanne collaborated with the forensic community across Australia and New Zealand; the Attorney General’s Department; the Department of Defence; Defence Science Technology Group; the international Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and worked closely with chemical industry in Australia.
She joined ANU in 2021 as a Business Development Manager in the College of Science before being seconded to the role of AUKUS Program Manager where she coordinates the multidisciplinary Nuclear Stewardship Working Group and Steering Committee focused on the delivery of the educational and research pipelines required for Australia to achieve a sovereign nuclear powered submarine capability. She is a passionate advocate for applying ANU expertise to solve Defence and national security issues.
